| 6 | 7/19/2004 9:37:33 AM | 7/19/2004 9:39:01 AM | How do I know if I am an AWOC student? | AWOC is open to National Weather Service employees who have completed the WSR-88D Operations residence course, or the Distance Learning Operations Course (DLOC) taught by WDTB. If you have taken one of these courses, you need to talk to your SOO, Training Officer (TO), MIC, or HIC and express your interest in attending AWOC. Your SOO or TO will register you for the course. You will manage your training via the WDTB Website and the NWS Learning Management System. |
| 7 | 7/19/2004 10:34:14 AM | 7/20/2004 8:53:33 AM | What are performance objectives? | Performance objectives provide precise, measureable statements of the behaviors that training participants will be able to demonstrate on the job. They often specify the condition under which the behaviors will be demonstrated as well as the criteria for acceptable performance.
AWOC has performance objectives identified for each Instructional Component. Example (from AWOC Core Track IC 4): Using any or all of the 3 base moments in radar, participants will demonstrate the ability to detect and then mitigate: a) anomalous propagation, b) range folding, and 3) improperly dealiased velocities. |
| 8 | 7/20/2004 3:46:35 PM | 7/20/2004 3:48:03 PM | Can I test out? | Most of the online instructional components will have a "test-out" available for those students who feel they know the subject matter sufficiently. This "test-out" can only be taken one time, and will require a score of 90 percent to get credit for completion of the instructional component. Even if you take the "test-out" and score the required 90 percent, you will still have the option to review the IC. |
| 9 | 7/20/2004 3:48:21 PM | 12/30/2005 9:13:23 AM | When can I register? | Your SOO, DOH, or designated AWOC Facilitator will register you for AWOC. For the teletraining sessions, you will work with your AWOC Facilitator to select a convenient time. Each teletraining component will be offered many times. For the latest schedule, see the AWOC Home Page. |

The completion requirement for each track is to complete all five instructional components as described in detail at AWOC Home Page. Completion of each instructional component is described within the component, and usually requires successful completion of a short exam. You will receive a separate Course Certificate for the Core Track and the Severe Track. |
