Radar Display Controls for
SRM
This page is featured as a quick highlight to the
radar display controls for the 8-bit Storm-Relative Velocity
Map (SRM) Algorithm. The GUI in AWIPS OB 2 now allow the user
three different options for which storm motion is used to calculate
SRM:
- Storm motion from the WarnGen track
- Average storm motion from STI
- Custom storm motion input by the user
The default storm motion is option #2 (same as the legacy SRM product).
Users should beware that any WarnGen (option #1) or custom storm
motion (option #3) that is applied via the GUI will remain as the storm
motion for future volume scans until another value is selected in the
GUI. It should also be noted that the average storm motion vector
must be used on all dial-out radar requests.
