8-bit Product Information
High resolution, or 8-bit, products are quickly becoming a vital
piece of data for use during severe weather operations. WDTB has
found three excellent resources on 8-bit products that forecasters
may find useful. The first resource is a link to a presentation
by Dave Andra given during WDTB's Warning Decision Making IV Workshops.
The second resource was created by the Eastern Region Scientific
Services Division. The final resource, provided in the text below
the links for the first two resources, is a reprint of information
on new features in ORPG Build 1.2 that specifically applies to
8-bit products.

Two New Products - Digital Base Reflectivity and Digital
Base Velocity (AWIPS Build 5.2.1 is required to display these
products)

- data levels: 256 (-30 dBZ to +90 dBZ)
- readout to the nearest 0.5 dBZ
- to display: AWIPS Build 5.2.1 (RPS/OTR)
