RDA - The Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) and Monitor Interface

KVM & Monitor Interface display at the RDA

The Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) and Monitor Interface (Fig. 2) is used to control the Radar Data Acquisition Unit (RDA) locally (i.e., at the RDA shelter) and to monitor RDA maintenance functions. Two KVM and Monitor Interfaces are present in each RDA shelter for redundancy. Many of the KVM and Monitor Interface control functions can also be performed remotely via the RDA Human Computer Interface (HCI) at the Master System Control Function (MSCF). In general, NWS forecasters will never have to interact with this subcomponent of the RDA Unit.
