Equation 6: Maximum Unambiguous Range

Equation 6. Maximum Unambiguous Range. Click for long description.

Where:

Rmax = maximum unambiguous range

c = speed of light (~3 x 108 ms-1)

Greek symbol tau = listening period (s)

This determines the maximum unambiguous range, Rmax. Rmax is determined by multiplying the speed of light (c) times the listening period (Greek symbol tau) and dividing by 2.
