Example of a single target lying beyond Rmax.  Backscattered energy from the first pulse returns to the radar from its 600 nm round trip while the next pulse has reached a range of only 100 nm.  The radar interprets the backscattered energy as coming from the second pulse (not the first pulse), and incorrectly places the target at 50 nm range.
