***NEW***The menu on the right is an option to consider. The only difference between the two menus is that the Precip, derived prodcuts, etc.
submenus are on top rather than the bottom. It makes sense to put them on top because often times these are the products that are used as overlays
and not necessarily in any pre-built procedures. Putting them on top allows the user to quickly get to them rather than having to scroll all the way
down to the bottom of the menu.
Here is the proposed OB9 KXXX radar menu, localized to ktlx. This would be implemented with a turn key script that would be "turned on"
as soon as a site is upgraded with dual-pol. We (WDTB) would already have these menus available in our training and simulations for dual-pol.
Length/Width of this KXXX menu: The proposed OB9 KXXX menu shown below is actually ~ 1/2 line shorter than OB8.2 KXXX menu.
It is however about 20% wider than the OB8.2 menu.
Info on below menus:
- 4bit/legacy was moved to the bottom of the menu.
- Dual Pol Base Data Analysis: This is the 4-panel in clockwise order Z/ZDR/CC/KDP toggle to V/SRM/SW/HC. All tilts will be the primary
button used, followed by 0.5 and probably 1.5 degrees. 4-panel combo-rotate functionality is thought to be the primary usage of this menu load
outside of and prior to procedures getting popular locally
- Dual Pol HCA Analysis: This is the 4-panel in clockwise order Z/ZDR/CC/KDP toggle to HCA in the lower left. All tilts will be the primary button used,
followed by 0.5 and 1.5 degrees. Will be used for combo-rotate as well.
- ktlx best res Z, V, SRM, SW implies that the max resolution available will be loaded, including super-res.
- We then added a separate menu for dual-pol all base products
- "Precip": Added new titles and products for dual-pol, also reorganized
- "Derived" is now "Derived Products" and has been reorganized
- "Graphics" is now "Algorithm Overlays" and has been reorganized
- ktlx four panel: There were some changes to this menu, primarily adding "Z+ZDR" etc. We wanted to include default 4-panel dual-pol moments
with reflectivity. In this case these are the traditional 4panel where a paired product has 4 increasing elevation angles.
- "Data Quality" is unchanged other than adding nexrad unit status to the top of this submenu
- "4bit/Legacy": All 4 bit products can be found on this sub-menu. Combined shear and all Severe Weather products that are removed from ORPG Build 9 are also
removed from this menu, making it shorter and more concise. We added 4-bit STP to this menu as well, 2nd from top. This is also where you can load 8bit products that
NOT super-res, if so desired.
- "Radar Applications": The applications remain on the Radar main menu, in addition to some of them appearing under the tools submenu, and can also be loaded from this
submenu
