• Open the config.sys file for editing in the c:\ directory.
• Find the 'shell=' command and make it look something like this:
  shell=c:\command.com /p /e:1024 (actually, just add the " /e:1024" to whatever you have)
  
• Then find the "files=" and make the value 80 files=80
  (if there is no files=, put one in at the bottom)
• Then reboot the machine and run visitlocal.bat again.
• If you still have problems send email to visitview@ssec.wisc.edu
• So far, we've only experienced this problem with visitlocal.bat.
