- What files do I need to create an FFMP dataset? [top]
Creation of FFMP data from an archived case requires the following:
- Basin files for each radar running FFMP (stored in
/awips/fxa/data/localization/nationalData)
- HRAP grid digital RFC flash flood guidance (stored in <data_case>/img/SBN/netCDF/HRAP/FFG/XXRFC/Yhr (where XXRFC is the RFC for your area and Yhr is 1hr, 3hr, and 6hr)
- DHR files for each radar running FFMP stored in <data_case>/radar/xxxx/DHR/layer0/res1/level256 (where xxxx is the radar name)
- Directories: <data_case>/tstorm, <data_case>/radar/xxxx/tstorm,
<data_case>/radar/xxxx/ffmp (where xxxx is the radar name), and
<data_case>/radar/xxxx/ffmp/lookupFiles
- A localization run with the “ -scan” switch, For more information on making this localization, see Sections 7 and 12 of the installation instructions.
Note: Failure to include all of the above elements will result in incomplete or bad FFMP data.
Additional Helpful Information:
- I get an error message about missing kxxx_ref_basin files[top]
This file is required for FFMP's basin tracing ability. To fix this error, download the appropriate basin file from the NOAA1 server and relocalize using the -scan switch. The NOAA1 server is only available to NWS users within their AWIPS Wide Area Network.
- Where can I get HRAP FFMP data?[top]
This data is available here:

Note: This link is accessible only from National Weather Service sites. This is an Eastern Region server that contains an archvie from MARFC, NERFC, SERFC, OHRFC, LMRFC, and MBRFC.
