FAQ: Running a Simulation
If you are sure that another simulation is not running, there may be some left over process running from a previous simulation. To check for this, run the command "ps -ef". Check for and kill any lingering AWIPS process (i.e., CommsRouter, DataController, notificationServer, RadarServer, SCANController, SCANprocessor, FFMPController, FFMPprocessor, textNotificationServer). If you use an icon to start enhanced_case_review or start_simulator, this problem can appear if you double-click on the icon. This will start two versions in rapid succession and thus cause this pop-up. Try single-clicking or double-clicking slowly. This error may also appear if you try to run enhanced_case_review or start_simulator at the same time. Only one of these applications should be run at any given time.
This usually occurs when the simulator is started from an icon using Gnome desktop. To stop this from happening, right click on the icon, select properties, and select the "Run in Terminal" checkbox. Another method is to open up a terminal window and type in "start_simulator".
